Abstract

An energy absorber was a safety device used to protect the occupant in the accident events. Since the early 1960s, afterword Alexander proposes the energy absorption theory, the research on these devices has been intensively conducting. The new invention in these devices has been growing continuously. By the time this theory has developing by other scientists. The aims were to getting better energy absorption of these devices. At the same time, the research in these fields was expensive. The cheaper new methods were becoming a need at this time. With the fast growth of computing technology, Finite Element Analysis was able to be an alternate method. In comparison with the experiment, the accuracy of these methods were new problems. These were challenging. This research showed that the resulting was accurate—the value of energy absorption the shape of deformation of aluminum 6063 T5 cylinder tube under quasi-static compression crush by finite element analysis and experiment were nearly the same.
